Video - Paul is Accurate

These next videos will be about Paul (level 6). I have had Paul in a one-on-one for about six months. I find him absolutely hilarious. His brain is full of so much information and imagination. When I told him I was from "near Chicago" (no one knows Wisconsin) he said, "Oh yes, Chicago has the Sears Tower and is on Lake Michigan. It is in Illinois and the capital of Illinois is Springfield..."

In this exercise I was giving him vocabulary words and he was supposed to make a sentence with it. His response? "Can I make a paragraph?"

I told him it would be a good idea to be videotaped so he can see what it sounds like when he speaks in English (I mainly wanted it for my own purposes). He is such a ham and totally enjoyed it.

The word is "accurately". This was the first one, and I think he must have been a little camera-struck at first. He couldn't remember the word once I turned on the camera.

Video - Compass Class 2

I took another try with my Compass Class to show me emotions.

Video - Compass Class 1

This is my Compass Class (level 2). They had just learned about emotions. I was saying an emotion and they were making the faces. Helen made the most hilarious "sad face", but when I pulled out the camera she was too shy to show me again.

This classroom, as you may notice, has no windows. With all of the bodies and no ventilation it gets extremely hot in here. This was the first day they allowed us to turn on the air conditioning (or as the Koreans say, "air con"). Cindy couldn't feel the air in the back of the room so she tells me "no air".

Video - Telescope Class 4

Serapion gives me her water thermos. She wants me to give it back to her when it is "go home time". She then bounces a bit and hides when she sees Andrew in the doorway. Alice then giggles and points to me because the kids all say we are in "lobe" (because they can't pronounce v) and they think it is hilarious.

Video - Telescope Class 3

The littler girl in red's name is Serapion (yeah, the names get weirder and weirder every term!) This video is before the bell rings. Serapion tells me that her mommy has my camera. What she means is that her mom has a similar camera to mine. She tries to work it out in English.

Video - Telescope Class 2

Alice is trying to avoid being in the camera. Cindy comes over to see what's going on... then also tries to avoid the camera.

Video - Telescope Class 1

I have been really wanting to share some videos of my classes so you can see my kids. It is really funny hearing how they talk, and the best way to get the full picture is with a video! I have been randomly bringing my camera to my classes, taking videos before the bell rings or sometimes during the lesson.

I have to post each of these videos separately... so there will be a lot of these posts.

The first one is of my Telescope class (Level 3). It is a pretty beginner class. The students in here are 5-7 years old. This is one of my favorite classes this term. I think Alice is so cute (the girl in the white outfit) she is always really bouncy and happy. This video is when the bell is ringing and she is just bouncing all around. I also teach her older sister who is equally adorable.
