And We're Off!

Well the waiting is over. After 2 years of anticipation and wanting to teach English in Korea, we are finally leaving! This whole process has been such a whirlwind and emotional roller coaster. From repetitively switching recruiting companies, job searching and interviewing in the middle of the night (because of the time difference), to packing and moving in 6 days - it is finally here!

The real beginning of the journey started about 6 days ago. Andrew and I were supposed to have an interview and we were waiting and waiting for the call. Two hours after our scheduled time, I e-mailed our recruiting company. They apologized and said they would try to reschedule the interview. I told them we would be awake for 3 more hours if they could get them to call us back.

Around midnight our phone rang with an unidentifiable number. It was the recruiting company apologizing for calling so late. They said they just got a job that opened up - available for two teachers, in the city we originally requested, and the job was supposed to start ASAP. We interviewed with the school around 1am. We were hired by 2am and told they wanted us to fly out two days later.

Impossible.

Andrew and I were both in a wedding the next day and needed time to pack and move his whole apartment. We gave them six days at the earliest, and they accepted.

That brings us to now! We are leaving Sheboygan in 4 hours (3:30 am!) to start our 24-hour trek to South Korea.

We will be living in Suwon, a city of 2.5 million and working at Langcon Academy. We will be teaching English and Art (how perfect?) to 7-13 year olds. We couldn't be more excited to start this amazing journey and the next phase in our relationship!

Keep posted as I will try to update as soon as often as possible. And do remember to stay in touch!

Suwon is just south of the capital Seoul.
